What a great read!
What were your initial thoughts on the book?
What do you plan to take and use in your role of leadership from this book?
Coach K's Response!
I must say the beginning of this book had me very very frustrated! Especially if you consider yourself a transformational leader vs. a transactional leader. At the end, what a great book! If you’ve read “Pound The Stone” I found some similar takeaways.
One of my favorite take aways from this book was “the two things that most impact our lives are the people we spend our time with and the things we read. Yep. Relationships and reading”. #CoachingForImpactBookClub
I was watching a What Drives Winning video a while back, where Brett Ledbetter was speaking with Sheri Coale (University of Oklahoma, Head Women's Basketball Coach).
Sheri was discussing the importance of becoming a better question asker as a coach and evaluating your question to statement ratio. While reading this book, this video kept running through my mind. If Coach could have just found a way to ask more questions instead of always throwing statements at his players, could they have found success and love for one another much sooner? This is one of the biggest take aways I am going to carry with myself as a new AD. Ask more questions, gain understanding, help others come to conclusions and realizations- which leads to my purpose in life: To help others recognize their greatness and strive towards it.
